Job boards were hardly bringing Saan any candidates. With job marketing, three new planners were on the payroll within four months.

Koninklijke Saan

Industry

Koninklijke Saan was looking for planners, but vacancies on job boards were hardly attracting any candidates. The company saw that online advertising could be the answer, but lacked the expertise and buying power to do it itself. Four months later, three new planners were on the payroll.

The challenge

Among other roles, Saan was looking for planners to strengthen a team that keeps its challenging projects running. Those projects don't stand still, so every unfilled position put immediate pressure on the schedule.

The trouble was that the number of candidates responding to the vacancies barely moved. Online job boards simply didn't deliver enough. On top of that, the company lacked the expertise, experience and capacity to recruit online itself: it didn't have the buying power for ads, and nobody had the time to run campaigns and follow up on candidates.

So Saan went looking for a partner who could.

The approach

Choosing job marketing

Koninklijke Saan chose job marketing: showing the vacancy where the target audience is, instead of waiting for someone to stumble across it on a job board.

Making the work visible

The job marketing campaigns stood out because they showed what the job was really about. The visuals featured the cranes, the projects and the future colleagues. The ads also included the salary and the duties, so a planner knew straight away what to expect.

The real work, the real salary.

That openness struck a chord: the campaign generated 220 responses.

The result

Three new planners in four months, at a cost of €2,400 per new hire. Of the 220 responses, three are now part of the team.

For Saan, this mainly means the schedule is covered again without anyone internally having to chase recruitment for months. And it proves something that is often doubted in construction: recruiting here really can work.

At Koninklijke Saan, job marketing made the difference.
